Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. (AWS Infrastructure Services) seeks an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead data center builds.

You will act as owner's representative on site, coordinating with trades and vendors to meet safety, schedule, and cost targets. You will drive scope, evaluate bids, conduct constructability reviews, manage documents and RFIs, and report metrics to leadership, ensuring resilient, compliant data-center infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience bringing new design concepts through exploration, development and deployment or mass production.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and Windows OS.
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as owner's representative on construction sites.
  • Drive cost, schedule, and quality while managing vendors and contractors.
  • Direct interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and close-out.
  • Negotiate bids and evaluate proposals with detail and accuracy.
  • Create project scope documents and requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
  • Manage projects to increase data-center resiliency.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs.
  • Manage construction documents (submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoicing).
  • Ensure construction quality control.
  • Record and report key construction metrics to team and management.
  • Lead teams to troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis.

This role is part of a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety, security, and capacity while providing the lowest possible cost to our customers.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Act as Amazon’s owner's representative on construction sites, interacting with construction trades.
  • Drive cost, schedule, and quality while managing construction vendors and contractors for new data‑center builds or general capital projects.
  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project close‑out/punch‑list phases.
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
  • Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
  • Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
  • Manage construction projects for initiatives that increase data‑center resiliency.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs associated with new or optimized data centers.
  • Manage construction documents (submittal review, RFIs, change orders, invoicing).
  • Ensure construction project quality control.
  • Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
  • Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis of equipment failures.
  • Act as a leader within the group and within internal and external teams that support the data center.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of critical data center equipment and engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
  • Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data‑center infrastructure.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.

The base salary for this position ranges from $111,300.00 to $186,100.00 annually in Boardman, OR. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription), Basic Life & AD&D insurance, Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage, a 401(k) match, paid time off, and parental leave.
