A leading company is seeking a Construction Manager for electrical substation and transmission projects in Springfield, MA. Responsible for managing safety compliance and overseeing contractors, the ideal candidate has proven construction management experience. This role involves coordination and communication with various project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

Job Description Summary:
The client has a need for a CM to oversee construction contractors for electrical substation and transmission projects.
Required: Candidate must have construction management experience with electrical substation and transmission projects. Ability to hold clearances (red tags) is a plus, but not required.
The typical job duties would include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Accountable for the safe completion of all work efforts. Sets safety expectations among and between his/her peers and subordinates. Resolves safety issues/concerns in an appropriate and timely manner. Communicates safety lessons learned and promotes continuous learning of safe work methods, practices, and procedures.
• Manages contract field construction and maintenance activities at transmission and distribution facilities in accordance with approved project documents, established engineering practices, Federal, State and local laws, and construction industry standards to achieve world-class field construction performance.
• Coordinating internal and external resources to support project construction.
• Ensures Project Manager and project team are notified of any deviations in construction safety compliance, environmental compliance, schedule, design, materials, budget, and commissioning.
• Providing daily reports to management on project progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential project impacts
• Reviews project design and construction documents to ensure constructability and schedule adherence.
• Ensure project schedule and specifications are being adhered to by field personnel, and raising concerns as necessary.
• Ensures contractor compliance with client standards and procedures.
• Ensuring adherence to Contractor Safety Standards (as referenced in Section 2 above)
• Reviews project material requirements to identify items that have not been ordered to support the construction project. Coordinate delivery of materials to construction site.
• Conducts onsite construction management briefings and prepare reports reflecting project status, schedule, cost analysis and project uncertainties.
• Requests and reviews switching; approves written switching instructions. Conducts switching when necessary.
• Reviewing & signing off on contractor timesheets, invoices, and change orders/change management
• Providing onsite field presence to review contractors work is in accordance with the provided plans
• Interfacing with the environmental compliance team so that environmental/permitting expectations and regulations are understood and followed by construction contractors
• Interfacing on material management issues and the construction contractors to determine material and equipment requirements in the field
• Interfacing with the testing & commissioning manager and provide oversight to the testing & commissioning prime contractor and Owner’s designated Lead Commissioning Engineer(s)
• Interfacing with the stakeholder and outreach coordination team so that all non-regulatory commitments are being adhered to by the construction contractors
• Reviewing contractor’s Job Hazard Analyses and identify safety concerns in the field if they arise
• Review and development of safety and work method practices in support of construction and maintenance activities.
• May be responsible to participate in or lead safety and operational incident investigations.
• May be required to establish accurate and professional communications with customers during a project.
• May be required to represent the supervisor in his/her absence.
• Act as mentor to other members of the department.
• Provides direction to vendor construction representatives.
• Provides substation escort for non-qualified individuals.
• Resolving scope and field issues
• Leading construction status meetings
• Attend meetings and project updates with customers, as appropriate
• Responsible for project reconciliations and close out activities following completion of projects.
• May be required to work extended hours during certain phases of construction projects.
• Serves on-call as required.
• Support Storm/ERP support as required
