Job summary

GFT seeks a Construction Manager to join our Construction Services team for mid-to-large water and wastewater projects in the Western Pennsylvania area. The role focuses on on-site management, contract administration, and coordination across teams to ensure projects meet schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards.

You will lead on-site staff, review submittals, manage RFI responses, and maintain client and regulatory relationships while supporting cost estimating and business development

Qualifications

• Experience as Construction Manager on water/wastewater projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• CCM certification or eligibility.
• 5–8 years in construction management.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver's license; willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Interface with Construction Management Project teams on all aspects.
• Oversee on-site contract management, administration, and controls on mid-to-large projects.
• Monitor contractor compliance with plans and specs.
• Supervise on-site staff and coordinate RFI responses.
• Develop client, contractor, and agency relationships; review submittals.
• Attend progress meetings and prepare minutes; review payments.
• Review daily reports, quantities, and change orders.
• Prepare monthly progress reports and assist with business development.

What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking Construction Manager to join our Construction Services team for medium to large scale Water / Wastewater related projects throughout in the Western Pennsylvania area

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Interface with Construction Management Project on all facets of assigned projects
• Responsible for overall on-site contract management, administration, project controls, and coordination on mid to large-size projects of a diverse and complex nature
• Monitor and enforce contractor compliance with plans and specifications
• Supervise and mentor assigned on-site construction administration and inspection staff
• Assist in the timely review and response to requests-for-information, clarifications, and interpretations of the contract documents
• Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with the client, contractor, and regulatory agencies
• Coordinate and expedite the review of construction submittals / shop drawings
• Attend periodic progress / coordination meetings and prepare meeting minutes
• Review and/or prepare requests for payment
• Review daily reports, quantity calculations, and other reports
• Review and evaluate change management requests
• Prepare monthly project progress reports
• Perform construction cost estimating, Biddability & constructability and value engineering reviews
• Assist with business development activities, including client visitation and proposal writing.

Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

• Must have similar prior experience as a Construction Manager for significant water / wastewater conveyance, pumpstation and treatment facility projects to be considered for position
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent is preferred
• Certified Construction Manager (CCM through CMAA), or ability to obtain CCM Certification
• 5-8 years of related, relevant experience in various aspects of construction management
• Possess general knowledge of all disciplines of construction
• Understand the major deliverable terms of the engineering and construction contracts and manage projects accordingly
• Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. is required
• Experience with other computer software (Procore, Expedition / Contract Manager, P3 or P6, Timberline, etc.) is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Travel and overtime work will be required

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $115,000- $130,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
