We are actively seeking to fill this role for a South Florida general contractor specializing in hospital, healthcare, and medical office construction and renovations. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Construction Superintendent / Project Manager to oversee projects from pre-construction through final completion.
This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a small, fast-paced general contracting environment and can take ownership of both field operations and project coordination. The right candidate will understand the unique demands of healthcare construction, including working within active facilities, coordinating multiple trades, maintaining strict schedules, and ensuring a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise commercial construction projects from mobilization through closeout.
- Oversee day-to-day jobsite operations, subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, and project schedules.
- Coordinate with hospital/facility representatives, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and inspectors.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and ensure subcontractors meet required milestones.
- Conduct regular site walks to monitor quality, progress, safety, and compliance with project documents.
- Coordinate inspections and ensure work complies with applicable building codes, healthcare requirements, and project specifications.
- Manage projects within active hospital and medical environments, minimizing disruptions to ongoing operations.
- Maintain organized project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, RFIs, change documentation, punch lists, and closeout documents.
- Identify potential scheduling, coordination, or construction issues before they impact the project.
- Coordinate material procurement and long-lead items.
- Review subcontractor work for completeness and quality.
- Assist with project budgeting, subcontractor proposals, change orders, and cost tracking as needed.
- Lead project punch-list and closeout activities and ensure projects are delivered on time and to the company's quality standards.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and represent the company professionally on every project.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of commercial construction experience in a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Project Manager, or similar role.
- Experience with healthcare, hospital, medical office, or other occupied commercial renovations strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction means and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, MEP, structural, and construction drawings.
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor coordination and construction scheduling.
- Comfortable managing multiple trades and resolving field conflicts.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
