Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Construction Project Manager to coordinate daily onsite activities and liaise with owners, contractors, and design teams. You will manage schedules, costs, and quality, review plans and submittals, and ensure safety and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

A Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, construction management, or related field and 5+ years of construction management experience are required.

• Develops and coordinates project schedules; reports deviations and recommends changes.
• Reports deviations from contract documents and codes and tracks resolutions.
• Schedules and coordinates reviews and inspections; maintains activity records.
• Monitors progress to ensure cost, schedule and quality standards are met.
• Reviews plans, RFIs, submittals, schedules, shop drawings and pay applications (QA/QC).
• Prepares final closeout documentation and maintains project files.
• Promotes safety and trains staff in construction administration.

Your Opportunity

Your Key Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily onsite construction activities with the owner and a liaison with contractors, design professionals, clients and relevant external parties.
• Provides input to the development of project schedules, coordinates the work according to approved schedules, reports schedule deviations and provides recommendations on any schedule modifications.
• Reports deviations from contract documents and codes. Follows through with responsible party until resolution.
• Schedules and coordinates reviews and inspections.
• Maintains records of activities including work completed and inspected.
• Meets, reviews and reports to the project team on construction status, issues, and concerns.
• Significant experience with local authorities having jurisdiction and occupancy requirements for clients.
• Monitors the progress of construction activities ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met.
• Reviews plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings and pay applications (QA/QC).
• Prepares final documentation for closeout process.
• Prepares documents and maintains file management of project-related information including, but not limited to, correspondence, reports, videos and pictures.
• Participates in the implementation of safety controls and promotes a safe workplace.
• Trains and/or mentors construction administration staff.
• Extensive knowledge of design management
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Thorough knowledge of construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Ability to effectively discuss project issues with contractor, project team and clients, including ability to resolve conflict situations.
• Takes initiative on tasks while obtaining and sharing necessary information with other members of the project team.
• Strong organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
• Working knowledge of critical path method scheduling.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of construction management experience.
• OSHA and MSHA training and certifications are an asset.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
