Job summary

UNICO Engineering in California seeks a Construction Manager to act as the Owner's Representative, enforce contract terms, and coordinate with the Contractor, client agencies, and the public. You will establish project records, monitor construction progress, and lead weekly project meetings to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Required are a BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering (or AS with extensive CM experience), CCM or PMP certification, and a California PE

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering (preferred) plus six (6) years CM or ten (10) years Sr. CM experience, OR
• AS in Construction Management with eight (8) years CM or twelve (12) years Sr. CM experience
• Certifications: CCM or PMP; California Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Valid driver's license and clear DMV record
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Responsibilities

• Serve as Owner's Representative; attend meetings with Contractor, client agencies, and the public
• Establish and maintain project records; monitor construction activities and schedules
• Prepare daily reports; coordinate weekly project meetings with Contractor, Agency, and stakeholders
• Review RFIs, submittals, letters, NOPCs, and claims; manage and forecast budgets

Responsibilities:

The Construction Manager is responsible for enforcing the terms of the contract and managing the relationship with the client. Specific responsibilities include serving as the Owner’s Representative; facilitating and attending meetings with the Contractor, client agencies, and the public; establishing and maintaining project records; monitoring construction activities and schedules and maintaining records of completed work through daily reports; facilitating weekly project meetings with the Contractor, Agency, and other stakeholders; coordinating and communicating effectively with the team and clients; reviewing and responding to Contractor’s RFIs, submittals, letters, NOPCs, and claims; and managing and forecasting project budgets.

Requirements

• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering, or closely related field (preferred) plus six (6) years (CM) or ten (10) years (Sr. CM) of relevant construction experience, OR


• AS in Construction Management or closely related field plus eight (8) years (CM), twelve (12) years (Sr. CM) of relevant construction experience AND


• Certified as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) OR


• Registered as a California Professional Engineer


• Possess a valid driver's license and clear DMV record


• Must have the ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
