Job summary

Leo FS is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee day-to-day field execution of construction and facilities maintenance projects in Columbus. You will ensure work is safe, on schedule, on budget, and meets quality standards while coordinating with Project Managers, subcontractors, and clients.

This on-site role requires strong leadership, ability to read plans, manage safety programs, monitor progress with KPIs, and communicate risks effectively to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of construction or facilities maintenance field supervision experience.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and construction best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Description

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of construction and facilities maintenance projects in the field, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, on budget, and to quality standards. This role partners closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, and clients to drive successful project outcomes.

Field Operations & Project Execution
  • Oversee daily on-site construction activities, ensuring work complies with plans, specifications, and quality standards
  • Coordinate the sequencing and scheduling of subcontractors, trades, and site labor
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, addressing delays proactively
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular progress reports to senior leadership
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce site safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
  • Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily logs, inspection reports, and incident reports
  • Respond to emergency service calls outside normal business hours as needed to meet client needs
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
  • Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring work meets contractual and quality requirements
  • Review and approve subcontractor pay applications in partnership with Project Management
  • Resolve field-level conflicts between trades and vendors
Client & Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, and inspectors
  • Communicate project status, risks, and changes to internal and external stakeholders
  • Support change order identification and documentation
Quality Control
  • Conduct quality inspections throughout each phase of construction
  • Identify and resolve field issues, coordinating with design and engineering teams as neededEnsure punch list items are completed and closed out prior to project completion
Team Leadership & Development
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and professional development support to field staff to promote growth and retention
  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and training of new construction personnel
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-8 years of construction or facilities maintenance field supervision experience
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and construction best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred:
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent job sites
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position directly supervises field superintendents, foremen, and/or site labor, and provides work direction to subcontractors on assigned projects.

Work Environment/Physical & Visual Demands:
  • This position works a variable schedule based on project needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends; overtime should be expected. This role also requires availability for emergency response service outside normal business hours.
  • This position is primarily field-based, with regular travel between job sites of up to 75% required.
  • Physical Demands: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching, Lifting up to 50lbs, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, and Medium work.
  • Visual Demands: Visual acuity to inspect work quality, read plans and specifications, and identify safety hazards.
  • Environmental Conditions: This position is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, construction noise, dust, and active job site hazards; use of PPE is required
