Job summary

Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking a Transmission & Distribution Construction Manager to plan, coordinate, and oversee the construction of electrical transmission and distribution projects. You will lead field teams, coordinate with engineering, procurement, and clients, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has 7–10+ years in utility construction, supervisory experience, and strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CM/CE/EE preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of utility construction experience.
  • 3–5 years supervisory or construction management experience.
  • Proven experience in transmission, distribution, or substation construction.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee transmission and distribution construction projects from pre-construction to closeout.
  • Lead field activities for transmission lines, substations, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and safety policies are followed on site.
  • Develop schedules, resource plans, and construction sequencing.
  • Monitor budgets, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material costs.

Job description

The Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the construction of electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. The Construction Manager provides leadership to field personnel, subcontractors, and project teams while maintaining strong communication with clients, engineering, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of transmission and distribution construction projects from pre-construction through project closeout.
  • Lead field construction activities for transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, company safety policies, and client standards.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and construction sequencing.
  • Monitor project budgets, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material costs.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, project management, utility clients, and subcontractors to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality workmanship and compliance with construction specifications.
  • Identify project risks and implement corrective actions to minimize schedule delays and cost impacts.
  • Review and approve daily reports, work plans, change orders, and progress documentation.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, contract compliance, and field productivity.
  • Facilitate construction meetings with clients, project stakeholders, and field personnel.
  • Ensure proper permitting, inspections, and project documentation are completed.
  • Mentor and supervise field supervisors, general foremen, and construction crews.
  • Support project estimating, constructability reviews, and pre-bid planning activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent construction experience may be considered.
  • 7–10+ years of progressively responsible experience in utility, electrical, or heavy civil construction.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory or construction management experience.
  • Proven experience managing transmission, distribution, or substation construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of utility construction practices, electrical systems, and industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and utility safety requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction contracts.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Utility industry experience with investor-owned, municipal, or cooperative utilities.
  • Experience managing EPC or design-build projects.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software.
