Job summary

Specialist Staffing Group is seeking a Project Manager to lead utility-scale solar and solar+storage projects from EPC handoff to commercial operation in the Altoona, PA area. You will coordinate Development, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Operations teams, ensuring schedules, budgets, and safety standards are met.

The role requires 2-5 years in solar or industrial construction, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 2-5 years of project management experience in utility-scale solar, renewable energy, power generation, or industrial construction.
• Strong understanding of utility-scale solar development and EPC project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the owner's on-site representative and provide daily site oversight.
• Ensure contractors are building according to project specifications and requirements.
• Hold contractors accountable and confidently manage contractor relationships.
• Attend and contribute to 2-3 construction meetings per week.
• Track project budgets, schedules, and construction progress.
• Assist with monthly reporting for partners and board stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot construction challenges and provide guidance during project meetings.
• Support landowner communications and stakeholder management.
• Coordinate with conservation districts, permitting agencies, and related project stakeholders as needed.
• Reduce administrative burden on the Project Manager by handling field-related coordination and issue resolution.

Preferred Experience

• 2-3+ years of Construction Management experience preferred.
• Solar construction experience is desirable but not required.
• Experience with utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage, oil & gas, pipeline, industrial, heavy civil, commercial, or other large-scale construction projects will be considered.
• Knowledge of racking systems is a plus, though internal subject matter expertise is available to support this area.
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, and field operations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with landowners and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience with permitting, stormwater controls, conservation districts, or similar regulatory requirements is beneficial.
• SCADA knowledge is a plus.
• Notary certification would be viewed favorably but is not required.
