Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm seeking a Construction Management Representative to manage a variety of construction projects from Pittsburgh, PA. The role involves building demolition, site restoration, rehabilitation, new construction, utility work, paving, and waterfront work with travel to remote locations.

A monthly living allowance is included. Immigration sponsorship is not available, except for TN visa candidates.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience as a Construction Manager, Construction Management Representative, Owner’s Representative, or Construction Superintendent.
• Experience using cost estimating software to develop independent estimates and evaluating CPM schedules.
• Experience reviewing designs, shop drawings, vendor specs, and plans for constructability and adherence to standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent relationships with clients, occupants, architects/engineers, and contractors.
• Manage project schedule from inception to close out.
• Lead project job-site meetings.
• Review contractor work for compliance with plans and specs.
• Review and approve contractor monthly requisitions and invoices.
• Manage change orders efficiently and control cost.
• Report on project issues and provide status updates.
• Perform other duties as required.

Construction Management Representative

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee‑owned consulting firm that provides multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services to public agencies and private clients throughout the United States. JMT’s Facilities‑CM team is seeking a Construction Management Representative (CMR) to manage a variety of construction projects, including building demolition, site restoration, rehabilitation, new construction, utility work, paving, and waterfront construction. Candidates must be willing to travel to remote locations and work away from home for extended periods. A monthly allowance for living expenses will be included.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F‑1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent relationships with clients, facility occupants, architects/engineers, and contractors
• Manage project schedule from inception to close out
• Lead project job‑site meetings
• Review contractor work in place to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
• Review and approve contractor monthly requisitions and invoices
• Manage change orders efficiently and control cost
• Report on project issues and provide status updates
• Perform other duties as may be required

Required Skills

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT’s Motor Vehicle screening
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Effective leadership for managing schedule, cost, and quality
• Ability to take charge and effectively manage contractors to meet project schedule
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations with a 30‑hour OSHA Safety card (or ability to procure in 90 days)
• The ability to work well with others and willingness to learn in a team environment
• Strong computer skills, experience with MS Windows Office and Primavera P6

Required Experience

• Minimum five years of experience as a Construction Manager, Construction Management Representative, Owner’s Representative, or Construction Superintendent
• Experience using MS Excel or related cost estimating software to develop independent cost estimates for change‑order negotiations and evaluating contractor‑provided construction CPM schedules, including logic and sequencing
• Experience reviewing engineering designs, contractor shop drawings, vendor specifications, and plans to determine constructability and practicality of proposed work and adherence to established standards and requirements

Preferred Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
• Engineering in Training (EIT), Registered Professional Engineer (PE), or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
• Experience on federal government construction projects
• Familiarity with federal policies and procedures
• Experience with National Park Service projects
• Experience using cloud‑based project management software such as Procore or SharePoint for communication of construction progress and documentation
• Knowledge and experience working with federal Government Project Managers/CORs on project costs and budgets, processing change requests, RFI, submittals, and field observation reports
• Candidate is willing to travel to various possible locations within the United States.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Office to field time is approximately 25% to 75% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking, and standing on a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required. Travel is required.
