Job summary

Woolpert, Inc. seeks a Construction Manager Intern to work on on-site aviation, road, and bridge construction projects with the Woolpert construction management team. Projects may include bridge overlays, highway work, runway or taxiway construction, and related tasks.

Groundwork will occur in-state with colleagues and clients, in a hands-on learning environment. Applicants must be enrolled in Civil Engineering or construction management and be prepared for travel and extended overnight stays;

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university, preferably with at least sophomore status.
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering or construction management degree (or related field).
• Have a general interest in construction management / inspection.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be self-motivated and self-reliant.
• Assignments may include travel and extended overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of an industry leading construction management team on-site.
• Assist construction managers with inspections of projects and materials for compliance with codes, standards, and approved plans.
• Gain real-world experience by working on actual projects with experienced inspectors.
• Assist on a variety of projects spanning clients and disciplines.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external subs/clients.
• Produce daily and weekly reports and apply standard techniques.

Overview

The Construction Manager Intern will work on-site alongside the Woolpert construction management team working on aviation and/or road and bridge construction projects. Projects could consist of bridge deck overlays or replacements, highway paving, or reconstruction, airport runway or taxiway construction, electrical (nav aids, lighting, conduit, etc.) or, subgrade stabilization - to name a few. All these projects directly impact the communities where we live and work.

We are open to students in the following states: Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, Utah, Indiana or Ohio

This internship has a significant portion of work onsite/in-office. Woolpert does not provide housing or relocation for internships/co-ops.
We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

What you will do:

• Work as a member of an industry leading construction management team


• Assist construction managers with inspections of construction projects and materials for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and approved construction plans/specifications


• Gain real-world experience by working on actual projects alongside experienced inspectors and construction managers


• Assist on a variety of projects spanning clients and disciplines.


• Work as a member of a team that coordinates with other internal teams and external subs and clients.


• Perform tasks and solve problems alongside the construction management team


• Evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria


• Assists with performing quality control reviews and quality assurance procedures within areas of expertise


• Reviews and interprets construction documents, site drawings, as-built drawings, and specifications


• Produce daily and weekly reports


• Opportunity to work with current technology including, materials testing, drones, pavement profilograph, surveying, pipe inspections and pavement marking reflectomer testing.
