Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Construction Management Intern to join our Transportation team in Milwaukee, WI, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to clients locally and worldwide.

You will assist in a variety of construction management tasks, including inspections, budgeting, documentation, and safety, while learning from expert mentors in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project site visits or client meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in site inspections to observe how work quality is assessed against standards and specifications.
  • Assist in tracking project expenses and learn about budget monitoring processes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of progress reports and project documentation.
  • Help manage and update project-related documents and drawings.
  • Attend project meetings with team members and clients to gain exposure to professional interactions.
  • Observe and assist in identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Learn about and follow on-site safety protocols and procedures.
  • Help coordinate material deliveries and observe inventory management practices.
  • Assist in reviewing change orders and RFIs, learning their impact on timelines and budgets.
  • Study building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Support quality control through inspections and documentation.
  • Assist in preparing project closeout documentation.
  • Actively engage in learning opportunities to build construction management skills and knowledge throughout the internship

Your impact

Jacobs is seeking a Construction Management Intern to join our Transportation team in Milwaukee, WI working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of construction management tasks for our Transportation clients. Jacobs' Program Management and Construction Management (PMCM) team ensures successful project delivery by offering comprehensive services such as program planning, design management, construction management, risk management, and facility commissioning.

They also provide tailored specialty services like performance management, safety plan development, logistics planning, and stakeholder coordination to meet client-specific needs.

In this role you will

This position demands a results-driven, client-focused professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong work ethic. You’ll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Your ability to manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard work product will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.
