Job summary

Balfour Beatty US is seeking construction interns for a hands-on internship experience with a commercial construction company in California. Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in Construction Management or Engineering, with a drive to learn, solve problems, and deliver client services.

The 12-week program requires a 40-hour work week and exposure to cost control, submittals, and coordination with architects and owners.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Engineering, or related education program
• Prior internships or work experience helpful but not required
• Able to develop new skills quickly and work 40 hours a week for 12 weeks
• Able to learn software systems including Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Learn about managing project budgets and coordinating billings and costs.
• Learn about Safety and Quality Control programs and address problems.
• Review and process submittal data and shop drawings.
• Coordinate submittals, deliveries, and schedule with the Superintendent.
• Monitor status reports, change orders, and meeting minutes to understand the process.
• Understand change documents and change proposal requests for price review.
