York County seeks a dedicated individual for a position in the Division of Stormwater Engineering. This essential role requires hands-on maintenance of drainage systems, leading tasks in a team, and managing responsibilities under various weather conditions. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience with tools and supervision.
Position available in the Division of Stormwater Engineering. Performs heavy manual work in the maintenance of County drainage ways and their associated structures. Responsible for serving as a lead worker in the absence of the supervisor; assigns and directs the activities of a small group of employees. Maintains drainage systems, and if silted in, re-constructs the drainage ways as needed. Observes and detects illicit discharges at outfalls as part of the County VSMP (Virginia Stormwater Management Permit). Additional responsibilities include assisting with the collection of storm debris.
High school graduate or equivalent with experience operating hand and power tools and some supervisory experience required; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
