The Oklahoma Department of Corrections is seeking a Construction/Maintenance Administrator I to oversee planning, coordination, and direction of construction, maintenance, and repair of state-owned buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment. This on-site position supervises skilled trades and licensed contractors, ensuring code compliance and safe operations.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in skilled building trades or maintenance work involving construction, maintenance, alteration and/or repair of buildings, grounds and utilities.
  • Two years of supervising contractors in one of the fields listed above.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of college or technical training for each year of non-supervisory experience.
  • Applicants must be willing to travel as required.
  • Knowledge of building trades, state contracting and purchasing laws and rules, and building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects buildings, premises, and equipment; determines maintenance, construction, or renovation needs; estimates costs for labor and materials.
  • Manages supervisory or contracted staff; develops budgets; ensures compliance with laws and regulations; prepares routine and special reports.
  • Evaluates bids on projects; prepares specifications for standard and specialized equipment, supplies and vehicles.
  • Prepares cost estimates for future capital improvement projects; reviews plans and construction documents.
  • Plans, supervises, and directs movement and operation of heavy construction equipment statewide.
  • Schedules work crews and tracks time/attendance; may perform work as needed.
  • Completes reports of equipment operations, installation and maintenance work performed and of materials, supplies and equipment used.

I n th i s role, they w i ll manage and superv i se construct i on/ma i ntenance techn i c i ans and l i censed trades spec i al i sts and/or others or may oversee contracted crews, workers, and other i nd i v i duals h i red that perform work on both new construct i on/renovat i on and the upkeep of ex i st i ng state pro pert i es. Conducts i nspect i ons of bu i ld i ngs, prem i ses, and equ i pment; determ i nes requ i rements for ma i ntenance, construct i on, or reno vat i on p ro jects; makes est i mates of costs for labor and mater i als; i nspects work i n pro gress and upon complet i on for code compl i ance.
