Job summary

LeoForce in St. Louis, MO seeks a Construction Litigation Shareholder to lead complex construction disputes, from case assessment to trial and appeal, and to mentor a seasoned team of litigators.

You will build and maintain client relationships, advise on risk management and contract drafting, and participate in business development to grow a substantive construction practice for contractors, subcontractors, developers, owners, sureties and design professionals.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and MO/IL/OR/FL bar admission.
  • Construction litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all phases of litigation from case assessment through trial and appeal.
  • Represent clients in construction disputes including lien and bond claims.
  • Advise clients on risk management and contract drafting/review.
  • Take depositions and draft dispositive motions; prepare cases for arbitration, mediation, and trial.
  • Collaborate with a team of litigators and support staff on complex matters.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and participate in business development.

Construction Litigation Shareholder

Salary: $180,000 - $250,000 per year

What You'll Do
  • Manage all phases of litigation, from case assessment and pleadings through discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal
  • Represent clients in disputes involving construction defects, delay claims, mechanic's liens, payment and performance bond claims, contract disputes, and professional liability
  • Advise clients on risk management and contract drafting/review to help prevent disputes before they arise
  • Take and defend depositions, draft and argue dispositive motions, and prepare cases for arbitration, mediation, and trial
  • Collaborate with a team of experienced litigators and support staff on multi-party, technically complex matters
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, practical, and business-minded counsel
  • Participate in business development efforts, including client relationship management and industry involvement
What We're Looking For

J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in MO, IL, OR FL

  • Litigation experience, with substantial experience in construction law preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction industry contracts, lien law, and surety/bond claims
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with courtroom and deposition experience
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and client-service skills
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and genuine interest in the construction industry
