Right Coach Right Time in Miami, FL is seeking a Construction Litigation Associate with approximately 3–7 years of litigation experience to join a sophisticated construction practice representing owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and other participants in complex disputes.

The associate will work closely with partners while taking meaningful ownership of matters and developing direct relationships with clients.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of litigation experience with Florida construction/commercial matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction and commercial litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution.
• Draft and respond to complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests, and other filings.
• Manage written discovery and large document productions, including strategy and evidence review.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, including witness preparation and document review.
• Investigate and analyze disputes involving construction contracts, delays, and payments.
• Review construction contracts, drawings, schedules, and project records for legal implications.
• Conduct legal research and prepare clear written analyses on Florida construction and commercial law.
• Coordinate with experts to develop technical aspects of claims and defenses.
• Assist with hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.

Job description

The Construction Litigation Associate will join a sophisticated construction practice representing owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and other participants in complex construction and commercial disputes. The associate will work closely with partners while taking meaningful ownership of matters and developing direct relationships with clients.

The role is designed for an attorney with approximately 3–7 years of litigation experience who has developed a strong foundation in case management and is ready for greater responsibility. The associate will be expected to manage significant portions of matters from initial investigation and pleadings through discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, trial preparation, and resolution.

The practice involves disputes arising from commercial construction and real estate development projects, including matters involving contract performance, payment disputes, construction defects, delays, project disruptions, design and engineering issues, and other complex claims between project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction and commercial litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution, working closely with partners while taking increasing ownership of strategy and day-to-day execution
• Draft and respond to complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests, dispositive motions, briefs, settlement documents, and other substantive litigation filings
• Manage written discovery and large document productions, including developing discovery strategy, identifying key evidence, working with clients to collect information, and analyzing technical and project documentation
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, including developing outlines, preparing witnesses, reviewing exhibits and project records, and taking or defending depositions based on experience level
• Investigate and analyze disputes involving construction contracts, change orders, project delays, payment issues, alleged defects, design and engineering concerns, and performance obligations
• Review and interpret construction contracts, drawings, specifications, schedules, correspondence, change-order documentation, payment applications, expert reports, and other technical project records
• Conduct legal research and prepare clear, persuasive written analysis addressing complex issues of Florida construction and commercial law
• Work with construction, engineering, scheduling, damages, and other expert witnesses to develop technical aspects of claims and defenses
• Assist with and increasingly take responsibility for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
• Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments, litigation strategy, discovery obligations, risk, and next steps while developing trusted client relationships
• Coordinate with partners, associates, paralegals, experts, consultants, and clients to keep complex matters organized and moving efficiently
• Evaluate factual and legal strengths and weaknesses throughout litigation and help develop practical strategies that account for both litigation risk and the client's broader business objectives
