Job summary

Qualifications

Job Summary: As a Construction Laborer for a utility‑scale solar electrical subcontractor, you will perform various physical labor tasks to support the installation and maintenance of solar energy systems. You will work closely with other team members to ensure the successful completion of solar projects in compliance with design schematics and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Preparation: Clear and prepare construction sites for solar installations, including leveling ground and removing debris.
  • Assembly: Assist in assembling solar modules, panels, and supporting structures.
  • Equipment Operation: Use hand and power tools, as well as other equipment, to perform tasks such as measuring, cutting, and fastening materials.
  • Installation Support: Support electricians and other skilled workers in installing electrical components and wiring for solar systems.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
  • Site Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized worksite, including proper disposal of waste materials.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve project goals and deadlines.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking across uneven terrain.
  • Climbing: Climbing ladders and scaffolding to access different parts of the installation.
  • Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to install and inspect components.
  • Manual Dexterity: Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and small components.
  • Weather Conditions: Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
  • Safety Gear: Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel‑toed boots.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and schematics is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
