A successful construction intern candidate is passionate about construction detail oriented curious team focused fun hard working and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done right You will work in unison with the office and onsite construction team to ensure that a full range of construction activities are completed successfully and efficiently The level of involvement will depend on specific project needs needs of the onsite team and your individual abilities
Assist Preconstruction team in sourcing quotes for new vendors subcontractors and materialsPerform data entry using various computer programs spreadsheet or database commands and format material as requiredHelp maintain the purchasing vendor databaseWill be responsible for a bids files and documentsPhone polling contractors about bidding adjustments to contracts and returning contractsHelp qualify chosen SubcontractorsAssist in the day to day management of overall project operations people and processes to help in learning all facets of the construction industryVigilant cost containment risk management and ensuring the safety of all on site; ensure full compliance with all applicable safety regulations including OSHA regulationsHelp to ensure compliance with all company policies and proceduresInterface effectively with staff contractors vendors and other stakeholdersAssist with maintenance of all daily work documentation and other project paperwork submitting all as required on a timely basisEnsure adherence to the schedule expediting subcontractors and suppliers as requiredSupervise onsite construction activities in conjunction with the project superintendent and if applicable project engineerExplore other areas of interest to learn more about the general operations of KPG and the many departments that will be supplemental to the learning experience
Currently enrolled in a 4 year Construction ProgramBasic knowledge of all aspects of construction technology equipment methods etc as well as an understanding of industry practices processes and standards and their impact on project activities
Strong Microsoft Office Suite skillsStrong written and verbal skills Ability to read write and interpret reports manuals and correspondence Ability to effectively present to groups of people including employees subcontractors and vendorsSelf starter with a proactive approach who can adapt easily to a fast paced environmentEffective multitasking while remaining detail orientedAbility to work independently as well as with a team of professionalsKnowledge of Project Management Software ProCore is a plus
