Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company offers an undergraduate internship in Maryland to gain hands-on experience across construction projects from bidding to completion. Responsibilities include quantity take-off, layout, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, subcontractor coordination, progress meetings, and cost-related tasks. Transportation is required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate pursuing a BS in engineering, engineering technology or construction management.
• Interest in hands-on practical experience in construction projects.
• Willing to work both in office and on job sites, with possible relocation to remote sites.

Responsibilities

• Quantity take-off
• Layout
• Preconstruction/as-built surveys
• Shop drawing review/approval & maintenance of log
• Submittal review/approval & maintenance of log
• RFI review/submission & maintenance of log
• Responding to subcontractor RFIs
• Interfacing with subcontractors & suppliers
• Attending weekly progress meetings
• Coordinating work between owner, architect & subcontractors
• Assisting during the bid process
• Reviewing construction documents & specifications
• Maintaining field records & cost estimates
• Preparing billings to owner & submitting change orders
• Approving invoices & expediting materials
• Scheduling & updates
• Quality control & safety
• Project closeout & punchlist
