We are seeking qualified Senior Construction Inspectors for water-sewer utility construction projects in Charlottesville. This role involves assignments in Charlottesville and nearby localities and service authorities.

The Utility Inspector manages and performs daily construction management and inspection services for utility projects. Candidates should have significant utility construction experience, proficiency in reading plans and specifications, and oversee construction documentation and contract compliance.

Responsibilities:
  1. Construction management
  2. Performing field inspections to ensure contractor compliance with contract documents
  3. Preparing reports on work accomplished, coordinating materials testing, and maintaining logs
  4. Reviewing pay estimates for accuracy
  5. Preparing sketches and data for project changes (PCOs)
  6. Documenting work and deficiencies, performing mathematical calculations
  7. Reviewing contractor schedules and updates
  8. Maintaining effective communication with the project team and stakeholders
Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years of field construction inspection experience in water and sewer utility projects
  • Inspection skills including monitoring contractor work for conformance to plans, specs, and permits
  • Experience coordinating multiple crews, tracking quantities, and maintaining reports and drawings
  • Certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I; desirable: DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control, ATSSA Work Zone, VDOT materials certifications
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • Strong communication, plan reading, and documentation skills
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to work nights and overtime as needed
