Construction Inspectors (Remote Site Locations Statewide) (Biotech)

GPI has immediate openings for highway and bridge construction inspectors statewide to work on NCDOT projects in North Carolina.

The candidate should be motivated and capable of working independently and with the GPI/NCDOT Project Team. Candidates must be available to work the contractor’s hours of operation, including day or night shifts and weekends as necessary for project completion.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform daily field inspections and observations of contractors' work on heavy highway and bridge construction projects, including earthwork, subgrade, asphalt, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, MOT, safety devices, and utilities.
2. Measure, compute, record, and maintain contract quantities for contractor payments.
3. Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and standards.
4. Perform and/or observe material sampling and testing per project standards and specifications.
5. Ensure contractors' work and materials meet standards and specifications.
6. Document daily project progress, including work performed, conformance/nonconformance, workforce, equipment, contract quantities, and extra work.
7. Enter and record project data in SharePoint or other electronic software programs.
8. Identify and communicate project issues to project managers and contractors.
9. Assess and communicate unsafe conditions with the contractor.
