Job description

Construction Inspectors NICET III and Office Engineers

MJ is seeking applicants for construction inspectors - NICET Level III and office engineers for projects in NYSDOT Region 2 for the 2025 construction season.

Responsibilities:

  1. Inspect and oversee construction of bridges, buildings, dams, highways and other construction work to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
  2. Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
  3. Verify alignment and elevation of installations.
  4. Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures and materials conform to specifications.
  5. Examine quality of finished installations for conformity to standards and approve installations.
  6. Interpret contract drawings and specifications and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
  7. Record material quantities received and used; maintain daily log of construction/inspection activities.
  8. Compute monthly estimates of work completed.

Prerequisites for employment include:

  • NICET certification, ASCE or education equal.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Previous experience with SiteManager is highly preferred.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Must be a US Citizen or authorized to work without employer sponsorship.

Pay is based on applicant’s ability and will be rated accordingly.
