CTL Engineering is hiring Inspectors for Construction Services on INDOT and Indianapolis DPW projects.

CTL Engineering (www.ctleng.com) is an award-winning, full-service consulting engineering firm with 15 locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, NC, SC, and VA, with a rich history of over 98 years. We provide civil/site design, land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for Inspectors who will play a key role in construction administration, inspection, and testing services for state (INDOT), county, and local clients. You’ll be involved in testing and inspection across a variety of projects including roadway/bridge, water/wastewater, aviation, commercial, and municipal utility/infrastructure sectors. You’ll leverage your expertise in construction inspection and problem-solving skills while collaborating with municipal agencies.

• This position involves primarily field work with some office work.
• Work independently on broad projects under the direction of a Department Manager.
• Projects are mainly in the Indianapolis area/Central Indiana, with frequent regional travel.
• A stipend for personal vehicle use or a company take-home vehicle will be provided based on the assignment.
• Experience with INDOT and Indianapolis DPW large projects is a strong plus.
  
  

Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring and enforcing quality standards and specifications.
• Reading project drawings, specifications, blueprints, and working on various construction projects.
• Performing construction administration and inspection for roadway, bridge, and municipal utility projects.
• Ensuring contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and proposals.
• Verifying quantities and calculations match bid plans.
• Maintaining project records and reports timely.
• Communicating project status and non-conforming work issues to contractors and engineers.
• Conducting hazardous material surveys and asbestos monitoring as needed.
• Performing quality control testing (concrete, soils, asphalt, etc.).
• Performing other duties as assigned by project engineers or managers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Understanding of engineering, construction, testing, and inspection principles.
• Experience with materials testing and lab analysis.
• Knowledge of quality control standards and compliance.
• Familiarity with construction and engineering services.
• Strong reporting, record-keeping, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and monitor construction environments.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Client-focused with a quality-minded approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of INDOT Certified Technician program OR a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Technical school or community college graduate with related experience.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with highway construction specifications and field experience.
• Previous testing company experience is preferred.
• Certifications such as ACI Grade I, NICET Level II Soils, ICC Special Inspections, or CWI/NDT are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
