Job summary

BKF is hiring an on-call Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. The role requires reading and interpreting complex plans, supervising civil work, and maintaining inspection records.

Candidates should have a college degree or 5+ years in Transportation/Civil projects, 4+ years in supervision or inspection, and a valid California driver's license. Certifications like CPII and ICC variants are preferred.

Qualifications

• College degree or minimum 5 years’ Civil/Transportation project experience.
• 4+ years supervising or inspecting engineering construction work.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects.

• Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFIs, CCOs.
• Verifies acceptability of material via Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, test reports.
• Maintains material and inspection records.

Job description

BKF is hiring an ON CALLConstruction Inspectorto execute onsite construction inspections to ensure the project is being constructed in compliance with the contract requirements and applicable permits.

Responsibilities:

General

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of any variances from approved plans and specifications
• Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assist in conducting field tests, or refers samples for laboratory analysis
• Checks the location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work
• Checks roadway/slope/structure grades, flow lines, and locations of structures
• Reviews contractor’s traffic control plans and field traffic control; review project safety
• Inspects earthwork grading, placement of asphalt concrete, proportions, and control of mixes
• Inspects delivery, placing, and curing of concrete and the placing of reinforcing steel
• Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFI’s, CCO’s
• Verifies acceptability of material incorporated into the project by Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, test reports
• Maintains material and inspection records
• Maintains a daily diary, photo log, contract item quantities
• Other duties as assigned

• College degree or minimum 5 years’ work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects
• 4 + years of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work including reading and interpreting complex construction plans and specifications

• Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record are required

• The typical base salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location, hourly wage
