Position Description
This posting will be used to fill a Full-time, Permanent, Safety Sensitive Construction Inspector Supervisor position in the Bureau of Watershed Protection and Restoration, Stormwater Infrastructure Program in the Department of Public Works.
This position requires complex technical and supervisory work in construction and inspection of culverts, storm drainage systems and various stormwater management devices. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervising and participating in the inspection of a variety of construction work in the County. Work includes inspecting complex construction projects, reviewing plans and approving field changes, and conducting final inspections. Supervision is exercised over contractors. Work requires the use of technical judgment and discretion within established laws, guidelines, and procedures, and is reviewed by a superior through conferences, reports, and results obtained.
Work involves responsibility for supervising and participating in the inspection of a variety of construction work in the County. Work includes inspecting the most complex construction projects, reviewing plans and approving field changes, and conducting final inspections. Work requires the use of technical judgment and discretion within established laws, guidelines, and procedures, and is reviewed by a superior through conferences, reports, and results obtained.

POSITIONS IN THIS CLASS OF WORK ARE REQUIRED TO LIFT, OR CAUSE TO BE LIFTED, TOOLS, MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT WEIGHING FROM ONE TO ONE THOUSAND POUNDS.
Graduation from high school supplemented by completion of college-level courses in engineering; four (4) or more years of experience in a wide variety of construction inspection work, including supervisory and managerial experience in construction; and a valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
