Job description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking a highly qualifiedConstruction Inspector to support the Bay Pines VA Medical Center during the construction phase of the Refresh Hemodialysis project. This role will provide on-site inspection, compliance monitoring, and reporting to ensure that all construction activities meet federal standards and the project’s contractual requirements.

Location: Bay Pines Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Bay Pines, FL

Employment Type: Contract (Approx. 6 months)

Work Hours: Up to 40 hours/week, primarily evening and night shifts

Work Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM

Tuesday, Thursday: 5:00 PM – 1:00 AM (subject to shift alignment with MWF schedule)

May include occasional weekends or adjusted hours as required by the project

This position is ideal for individuals seeking short-term contract opportunities, particularly those re-entering the workforce after an extended personal break or career pause.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a written analysis of proposed change orders within two (2) working days of notification, including direct cost impacts and schedule implications.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with all current safety standards and regulations; document and report safety concerns to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
  • Conduct regular inspections and prepare detailed daily progress reports, logs, and other inspection documentation in electronic formats (pdf, .docx).
  • Verify work performed by the general contractor aligns with approved construction drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Identify and document any errors or omissions in design or execution during construction
  • Inspect workmanship and materials for quality and compliance and recommend rejection of substandard work with supporting written and photographic documentation.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of Government and/or private experience inspecting construction projects of similar size, scope, and com complexity with at least 90% of the construction completed, preferably in sensitive or healthcare environment.
  • Experience with government projects or VA healthcare facilities is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety compliance, construction documentation, and order analysis change.
  • Strong written communication skills for report writing and correspondence.
  • Ability to interpret and navigate project drawings, specs, and contract documents.
