Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector-Mechanical to monitor construction activities and ensure conformance with MSFC standards and contract drawings. The role requires experience on complex projects and familiarity with federal procedures.

The candidate will review submittals, daily reports, RFI documents, and assist in final inspections and punch-lists. Strong organizational skills and proficiency with MS Office are essential for weekly as-built

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of applicable experience on construction projects.
• Master or journeyman HVAC experience is a plus.
• USACE/NASA or federal project construction experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and be insurable.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to read and understand construction contract drawings.
• Ability to inspect and confirm construction work conforms to design drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection and surveillance of construction activities to ensure work conforms to the contract.
• Monitor submittals using a submittal status log.
• Review and comment on contractor payment requests.
• Review and acknowledge daily reports and update project schedule status.
• Maintain the Inspector’s Site Inspection Report and orderly files for correspondence, minutes, payments, and progress reports.
• Monitor RFIs and contract documents including amendments and change orders.
• Participate in pre-final and final inspections and verify punch-list items are corrected before final payment.
• Verify accurate as-built drawings on a weekly basis.
• Assist in review of all O&M Manuals.

Job Summary

Involves monitoring construction, operations, maintenance, and/or repair activities to ensure conformance with MSFC standards, including construction and performance specifications, code requirements, and contract construction drawings.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Provide inspection and surveillance of construction, operations, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure the work is in accordance with the contract.


• Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log.


• Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor's requests for payment.


• Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule.


• Maintain an Inspectors Site Inspection Report.


• Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes,


• Monitor requests for Information (RFI), and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the construction period.


• Participate in pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations for detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.


• Verify accurate as-built drawings on a weekly basis


• Assist in review and comment on all O&M Manuals.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)


• 5+ years of applicable experience on construction projects


• Experience as a master or journeyman HVAC technician is a plus


• Army Corp of Engineering (USACE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or other federal project construction experience is preferred.


• Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable.


• Computer proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, and Outlook)


• Knowledge of business office procedures.


• Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.


• Ability to read and understand construction contract drawings.


• Ability to inspect and confirm construction work conforms to design drawings and specifications.


• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other involved parties.


• Must be well organized and detail oriented.

Physical Requirements

• Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments


• Ability to carry required instruments and equipment


• Ability to safely lift and carry 40 pounds


• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
