Position Overview:

The primary function of this role will be to assist with the monitoring, inspection and locating of sanitary sewer infrastructure within easements and right-of-way in support of land clearing operations and infrastructure location verification.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection services for oversight of the MDC's selected land clearing contractor, who has been providing clearing of various properties, easements, and rights-of-way.
  • On a weekly basis, provide GPS locational services for sewer infrastructure in the area of work, to include center of manhole and top of frame.
  • Should a deficiency be observed requiring further assessment by MDC, a GPS location for those areas will also be provided.
  • Support project activities by performing calculations, measurements, documentation, and other technical and engineering-related functions.
  • Perform verification or acceptance testing of construction materials in the field or at the laboratory.
  • Correspond with impacted stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection.
  • Certifications such as ConnDOT, NICET, etc. preferred.
  • A valid drivers' license.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work ethic within a group dynamic.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
  • Be flexible in work assignments, workdays, and hours.
  • Work effectively with office staff, client representatives and contractors.
  • Work safely in traffic and/or on construction sites.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time and operating assigned office and/or field equipment.
