Job summary

Platinum Global Talent Solutions is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to support the Hudson Tunnel Project. The role involves field inspections of construction activities, QA documentation, and coordination with engineers, contractors, and safety teams.

Ideal candidates will have a civil engineering or construction management background, at least 3 years of experience on large infrastructure projects, and familiarity with regulatory requirements for federally funded work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in inspection, quality assurance, or construction management on large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects.
  • Experience with federally funded projects and regulatory compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of construction activities, materials, and workmanship to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and report deviations or non-conformances.
  • Review daily inspection reports, safety and quality checklists, time and material certifications, and verify their accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the implementation of the project's Quality Management Plan and related procedures.
  • Review and maintain systematic records of all testing, inspection, acceptance activities, and outstanding punch list items.
  • Coordinate and monitor materials testing required under project contracts, including off-site lab testing.
  • Prepare and submit inspection reports, including daily, monthly, and quarterly summaries as required.
  • Communicate findings, issues, and recommendations to resident engineers, contractors, and project management.
  • Participate in meetings and technical briefings related to inspection and quality assurance.
  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with safety management plans, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with resident engineers, contractors, quality control managers, safety managers, and other project team members to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.

We are currently seeking dedicated and accomplished Construction Inspectorsfor the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute to this landmark project that is poised to deliver transformative impacts across economic, transportation, and environmental sustainability.

The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. This is a milestone project that is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.

As the Construction Inspector, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of this significant project. Responsibilities
Field Inspection & Monitoring
  • Conduct regular inspections of construction activities, materials, and workmanship to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and report any deviations or non-conformances.
  • Review daily inspection reports, safety and quality checklists, time and material certifications. and verify their accuracy and completeness.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
  • Support the implementation of the project's Quality Management Plan and related procedures.
  • Review and maintain systematic records of all testing, inspection, acceptance activities, and outstanding punch list items.
  • Document nonconforming work, verify completion of corrective actions, and monitor resolution of quality issues.
Materials Testing & Compliance
  • Coordinate and monitor materials testing required under project contracts, including off-site lab testing performed by independent testing organizations.
  • Ensure all materials used in construction meet specified standards and regulatory requirements.
Reporting & Communication
  • Prepare and submit inspection reports, including daily, monthly, and quarterly summaries as required.
  • Communicate findings, issues, and recommendations to resident engineers, contractors, and project management.
  • Participate in meetings and technical briefings related to inspection and quality assurance.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with safety management plans, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Support the implementation of environmental control processes and hazardous materials tracking.
Project Coordination
  • Collaborate with resident engineers, contractors, quality control managers, safety managers, and other project team members to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.
  • Assist with the review of construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and change orders as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in inspection, quality assurance, or construction management on large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects.
  • Experience with federally funded projects and regulatory compliance is preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, inspection procedures, and quality assurance processes. Experience in shaft construction and tunneling operations a plus.
  • Familiarity with document control, materials testing, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic project management software.
  • Clear and concise report writing.
Project Support & Communication
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work in the field and adapt to changing project needs, including night and weekend shifts as required.
Compliance & Quality
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local codes, standards, and permitting processes is a plus.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The estimated starting salary for this position is $140,000 - $155,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
