Construction Inspector (All levels - Staunton District)

Overview

ATCS's Construction Services group is expanding in Virginia! We are seeking individuals with VA construction management and inspection experience who can obtain necessary VDOT certifications.

We welcome candidates with varying levels of experience: Inspectors, Trainees, Senior Inspectors, to join our team in the Staunton, VA area.

Responsibilities

• Perform transportation construction inspections on Highway, Bridges, Environmental, Traffic, and Facilities projects.
• Write daily progress reports.
• Oversee contractor work crews to ensure compliance with contract documents and safe construction practices.
• Perform field tests on materials (concrete slump/air, soil compaction, HMA).
• Document materials, labor compliance, safety, estimates, work orders, and adjustments.
• Report on-site activities and progress to the Project Engineer, including calculation of pay quantities.

Requirements

• Experience levels vary: 0-3 years (Trainee), 3-6 years (Inspector), 6+ years (Senior Inspector).
• Knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridges specifications and standards.
• OSHA safety requirements experience.
• Mathematical skills: algebra, geometry, trigonometry.
• Proficiency with field engineering/testing equipment and inspection methods.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certifications within 12 months, including Work Zone Traffic Control, Asphalt Concrete, ACI Hydraulic Cement, Soils, Nuclear Safety, Pavement Marking, Storm Water, DEQ Erosion, OSHA safety, Flagging.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Proficiency in MS Office, SiteManager, PlanGrid, and other project management software.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary ranges from $17.00 to $41.97 per hour, based on experience. Role includes overtime, annual bonus (target 2%), and comprehensive employee benefits such as PTO, holiday PTO, community involvement PTO, medical, dental, vision, 401K match up to 3%, parental leave, STD & LTD, tuition reimbursement, employee assistance, and more.
