Job description

Overview

This is a general level technical work supporting higher level inspectors and engineers on assignments relating to highway and bridge construction inspection. Employee will perform a range of routine duties. Work is performed under technical and administrative supervision.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Perform independent routine and standardized inspections of construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract.
• May inspect truck load tickets for roadway aggregate base course, borrow material and asphaltic concrete at project field sites.
• Carry out a variety of simple materials sampling, inspection and/or testing.
• Responsible for contract administrative duties, which may include field measurements of pay item quantities as well as other Department required documentation.
• Responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field.
• Will be making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests and as responsible for coordinating and managing the lower-level inspectors.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Experience, Proficiencies, Skills and Certifications

High school graduate or equivalent. Strong MS Word and Excel skills is a plus.
