Job description

RK&K's Construction Management and Engineering (CEI) team is currently hiring Construction Inspectors with interstate, roadway, and bridge construction experience for projects in Winston-Salem, NC. As a Construction Inspector with RK&K, you will perform complex and routine inspections on materials, processes, safety, and documentation to ensure construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions.

Essential Functions

1. Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are being used; ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and special provisions.
2. Review drawings to prepare for inspections and understand the design of the construction to be inspected.
3. Document inspection results and communicate findings to the supervisor.
4. Conduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation and other contract administration records.
5. Inspect work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance, utility coordination, and right-of-way issue resolution.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Minimum 1 year of inspection experience required.
2. Experience and certifications in NCDOT inspection and materials testing (earthwork, asphalt, concrete, pavement preservation, erosion & sedimentation control) preferred.
3. Experience with NCDOT's construction procedures is a plus.
4. Valid driver's license and favorable driving record.
5. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
