Job Description: NICET Level III Construction Inspector

We are seeking a NICET Level III Construction Inspector with highway/bridge construction experience for a bridge rehabilitation project during the 2025 & 2026 construction seasons in the Village of Brewster, Putnam County, New York.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and perform on-site inspection activities related to construction.
• Review inspections conducted by subconsultants and others as needed.
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications; communicate effectively with clients, contractors, supervisors, and other inspectors regarding project details and site progress; maintain detailed field notes and documentation.
• Prepare daily reports describing contractor activities, labor, equipment, and measurements for payment purposes.
• Collect data and measurements for checklists and quality assurance of construction activities.
• Review Maintenance and Protection of Traffic plans to ensure safety for workers and the traveling public.
• Recommend approval of inspected work in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
• Notify contractors of violations and suggest operational adjustments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience with NYSDOT and/or locally administered Federal Aid projects preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with APPIA or CEES software.
• Ability to read plans and specifications and complete daily reports.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires working in potentially hazardous environments, often in inclement weather. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, and stand for extended periods. The position involves regular operation of a motor vehicle.
