Job summary

D&B Engineers and Architects is hiring a Construction Inspector to join our collaborative team of engineers and professionals. This role requires reporting to a project location in the Eastern Suffolk County area and entails field work across water supply projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil/Environmental/Construction engineering background, strong communication and reading drawing skills, and the ability to work with contractors and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering or closely related discipline is preferred.
• NYSDOT experience is preferred.
• Willingness and ability to complete field work including climbing elevated structures, descending into excavations, entering confined spaces and being near heavy construction equipment.
• Ability to read and understand contract drawings and specifications.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• FE/EIT and OSHA training is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Construction management and inspection support for water supply, distribution, and planning projects.
• Interfacing with contractors to review plans and resolve drawings/site conflicts to keep projects progressing.
• Client interaction and teamwork with design engineers and other disciplines.
• Running site meetings with Owners and Contractors.
• Reviewing completed work for conformity with drawings and submittals.
• Coordinating permitting efforts with local regulatory agencies, NYS health departments, and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).

The candidate selected for this position must be willing to report daily to a project location in Eastern Suffolk County on the south fork of Long Island.

Responsibilities

• Construction management and inspection support associated with water supply, distribution, and planning projects
• Interfacing with contractors during construction to review plan drawings and provide assistance in overcoming drawings/site conflicts to keep projects progressing.
• Client interaction and teamwork with design engineers and other disciplines
• Running site meetings with Owners and Contractors.
• Reviewing completed work conforms to the approved drawings and submittals.
• Coordinating permitting efforts with various local regulatory agencies, including local and State health departments and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• 8 hour shift

Salary Range

$90,000 – $120,000
