Job Description

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a Full Time Construction Inspector in the Engineering Department.

This position will perform a variety of construction inspection and administrative duties related to site grading, road, water, sewer, storm drain, stormwater management, and sediment & erosion control inspections, ensuring compliance with approved plans, permits, and regulatory documents. The inspector reports to the Project Manager in the Engineering Department.

Responsibilities include:

1. Inspection and construction administration of all County capital improvement projects, including roads, drainage, water, sewer, recreational facilities, and building site work.
2. Conducting field inspections, reviewing construction plans and shop drawings, processing contractor pay requests, writing daily inspection reports, and coordinating work schedules with engineers, contractors, and public agencies.
3. Serving as the County Local Issuing Authority (LIA) representative, overseeing site inspections, maintaining the County Soil Erosion and Sediment Control program, and coordinating with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
4. Assisting the County Planning Manager with floodplain detail reviews in Evolve and addressing drainage and flood-related complaints in unincorporated Bryan County.
5. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate’s Degree in Construction Management is preferred.
• At least 3 years of field experience in construction inspection of roads, water, and sewer projects.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; ability to learn and use the County’s project management software EVOLVE.
• Commercial building experience is a plus.
• Possession of a GSWCC Red Card or ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
