Construction Engineering Inspector

Location: Florida (Tallahassee, Tampa, and Orlando)

Our client is seeking a CEI Inspector to provide field observation, testing, and measurement services as a liaison with project stakeholders including the client, engineer, contractor, utility agencies, and regulatory authorities during the construction phase of a project.

The Inspector will work within a team environment and assist the Team Leader/Senior Inspector in observing, measuring, testing, and documenting the progress, quality, and quantity of work performed by the contractor. Responsibilities include performing inspection, testing, and material sampling services for conformance to plans and specifications for roadway, structure, and specialty items, primarily asphalt, earthwork, and concrete elements. The Inspector shall observe, measure, and record all construction quantities for contractor payment, including understanding mathematical calculations related to quantity measurement. Measurements will be documented in field books for review by engineers, clients, or auditors to ensure compliance with contract requirements. The following duties are required for this position:

• Safe operation of company vehicle
• Working on uneven terrain
• Frequent use of ladders
• Hauling equipment and materials up to 40 lbs
• Working in inclement weather conditions
• Working independently
• Repetitive bending/lifting, including overhead
• Nighttime and weekend work may be required
• Working on your feet for 8 hours a day
• Overtime work may be required
• Field measurements and calculations

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• At least two (2) years of related experience in construction inspection; one (1) year in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
• Understanding of FDOT construction project administration methods and processes, including training in MAC, BlueBeam, Hummingbird, and Site Manager programs
• CTQP Certification in Asphalt, Concrete, Earthwork, pile driving, and drilled shafts
