Gedeon GRC Consulting - Construction Inspector

Gedeon GRC Consulting is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our team. The Construction Inspector is responsible for ensuring all operations meet standards, specifications, and good construction practices. This role involves quality assurance of construction methods employed by contractors and subcontractors, including materials used.

Salary Range

$104,000.00 - $125,000.00, pay commensurate with experience.

Location

Based on project assignment.

Responsibilities
  1. Participate in meetings and respond to inquiries regarding project inspections.
  2. Prepare reports on project status, issues, and outcomes.
  3. Check grades, backfill components, and ensure adherence to project specifications.
  4. Report complaints related to grading, dust control, drainage, safety, and resolve issues, informing Resident Engineers.
  5. Review relevant specifications, standards, and Standard Construction Operating Procedures (SCOPs).
  6. Inspect materials prior to installation, verifying certifications and lab reports.
  7. Ensure workmanship and installations conform to plans, specifications, standards, and submittals.
  8. Conduct material sampling and testing as required.
  9. Direct contractors to rectify safety, traffic maintenance, and site maintenance issues.
  10. Maintain daily records of work performed, including location, workforce, equipment, materials, and measurements.
  11. Record accidents, property damage, utility interferences, and crossings.
  12. Maintain pile-driving records.
  13. Report potential conditions affecting community, property, or project scope.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Thorough understanding of contract requirements, site conditions, and special provisions.
  2. ASCE Grade II or NICET Grade III certification required.
  3. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with ten years of relevant experience.
  4. Minimum of three years' experience in infrastructure construction inspection or management; or ten years' experience with similar qualifications.
  5. Knowledge of agency policies, procedures, and SCOPs.
  6. Experience working with state and local agencies in New York on infrastructure projects.
  7. Strong resource management and organizational skills.
  8. Ability to establish positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and the public.
  9. Proficiency in Site Manager, AutoCAD, and other project management software; knowledge of Microsoft Office.
