Job summary

Delve Underground is seeking a Construction Inspector in New York, NY, USA to monitor field offices on water, wastewater, and transit projects with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance. Positions may include shift work.

The ideal candidate has at least ten years in heavy construction, five in tunnel inspection (including trenchless), and OSHA First Aid/CPR certification. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

Qualifications

• Experience on at least two tunnel projects, including trenchless tunneling experience.
• At least ten years of recent experience in heavy construction, with at least five years in tunnel inspection of large and complex projects.
• Preferred current First Aid and CPR training from a provider recognized by OSHA.
• Knowledge of construction-related processes and industry practices.
• Ability to wear PPE such as a respirator and meet physical demands (walking, standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, climbing ladders, bending, crawling).
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook. Proficiency in Visio, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam is a plus.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor construction contractor's work and prepare daily inspection reports.
• Review field Submittals, RFIs, plan clarifications, geotechnical data and CPM schedules.
• Monitor receipt inspection of materials and on-site/off-site production activities.
• Ensure progress complies with Contract Documents, safety standards, and agency requirements.
• Promote a safe work environment and adhere to safety policies.
• Use Project Information Management System (PIMS) or other systems to prepare Inspection Reports.

Construction Inspector

Delve Underground is always looking for a Construction Inspectors in our North American offices. Inspectors will work at project field offices on water, wastewater, and transit construction projects. This posting is not for a specific project - available position locations will vary.

A successful candidate for this position will have experience in heavy civil construction projects, water, wastewater, and transit construction projects. Tunnel experience, including trenchless experience, is considered to be relevant and preferred.

Positions may include shift work.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and monitor construction contractor's work and prepare daily inspection reports, including labor, equipment and materials in addition to work activities. Review contractor reports.
• Review and provide input into field related Submittals, Requests for Information, plan clarifications, geotechnical information and data, and CPM schedules.
• Monitor the Contractor's receipt inspection of materials arriving on-site, monitors off-site production activities and/or any other construction activities in their area.
• Monitor construction progress for compliance with Contract Documents, safety standards and agency requirements.
• Assist in maintaining, supporting, and promoting a safe work environment while complying with applicable safety policies and procedures.
• Utilize Agency/client Project Information Management System (PIMS) and/or other Agency/Client electronic systems for preparing Inspection Reports.
