Job summary

O2EPCM, Inc. is recruiting a Construction Inspector to support LAWA’s civil construction inspection within the Capital Improvement Program. Qualified candidates must hold LADBS Deputy licenses or Deputy Post-Tensioning licenses and Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within four years.

Strong public works inspection experience is essential. The role involves inspecting bridges, roads, utilities, and traffic systems, with daily reports and coordination across a large team of inspectors.

Qualifications

  • Must hold LADBS Grading Deputy or Deputy Post-Tensioning license.
  • Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within the last four years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in public works heavy civil inspections or as superintendent on Cal-Trans projects.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect major reinforced concrete structures, bridges, and roadways across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Inspect sanitary sewer and storm drain installations and related structures per LA standards.
  • Inspect street lighting and traffic signal systems per City/LA DOT specs.
  • Enforce Cal-Trans and City/LA standards in inspections and reports.
  • Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports and note issues and safety concerns.
  • Assist in reviewing Contractor’s monthly progress payments based on value of work.
  • Collaborate within a large team of Inspectors.

Job description

Position Description Summary
The Construction Inspector will support LAWA’s civil construction inspection and work as a member of LAWA’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within LAWA’s Capital Improvement Program.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must possess a current Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) Grading Deputy License or Deputy Post-Tensioning (Pre-Stressed) License.
*Successfully hired Candidates must provide proof of Cal-OSHA 30-hour training within the last four years prior to official start.

Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience performing inspection of Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structure projects, or a minimum of 10 years experience as a Superintendent on Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structures projects.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in public works field inspection, with a focus on heavy civil and roadway construction, or a minimum of 10 years experience as a Superintendent on Cal-Trans bridge, roadway, and structures projects.
  • Proven expertise in the installation and inspection of sewer and storm drain systems, utility infrastructure, and traffic control measures.
  • Strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles and Cal-Trans Standards.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Duties
  • Perform inspection of major reinforced concrete structures including pile foundations, roadways, and bridges across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Conduct inspections for the installation of sanitary sewer systems and storm drains, including related structures, in accordance with City and County of Los Angeles Standards.
  • Perform inspections for the installation of street lighting and traffic signal systems, following the specifications set by the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of City of Los Angeles Standard Plans/Specifications and the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (Greenbook).
  • Apply extensive knowledge of Cal-Trans construction Standard Plans and Specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with multi-phased, site-specific traffic control plans, with a strong emphasis on pedestrian safety and routing.
  • Apply knowledge of and enforce Cal-OSHA, Contractor’s and LAWA safety requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly and concisely documents observed construction activities and identifies issues, deficiencies, and safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving Contractor’s monthly progress payment request based on work completed and approved schedule of values.
  • Collaborate professionally within a large team of Inspectors.
Hardware/Software Knowledge
  • Computer Proficiency - Utilize electronic equipment to review project plans and contract documents including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Working and operational knowledge of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) used for inspection reporting and document control. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Pro, PM Web, Bluebeam, ProCore, etc..
Education/Training
  • Current City of Los Angeles Deputy Inspector Licenses; Grading, or Post Tensioning (Pre-Stressed) REQUIRED.
  • Current Cal-Trans test method certifications in 100, 200, 300, and 500 series desired.
  • 30-hour Cal-OSHA training prior to assignment. The 30-hour training will have been received within the last 4 years.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).

  • May be required to work various shifts including overtime, swing, nights, weekend shifts, and holidays as needed
