Job description

Position: Construction Inspector (Roadways)

Location: Lenexa, KS

Construction Inspector - Lenexa, Kansas

GBA is seeking a construction inspector to support our Transportation Group. The ideal candidate will have experience with inspection of roadway and bridge projects, field materials testing, and the desire to lead projects. We are willing to educate and train individuals with the desire to grow in the inspection field.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret plans and specifications
• Perform field materials testing on soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt
• Observe and inspect construction to ensure compliance with contract documents
• Gain the ability to lead projects
• Perform project documentation, keeping timely and accurate reports
• Prepare pay applications, change orders, and handle general administrative duties
• Perform environmental inspections
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least 5+ years of inspection-related experience
• KDOT or MoDOT Certified Inspector Training Certifications, but training can be provided if needed
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Broad knowledge of construction materials and methods
• Experience with earthwork, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, bridge structures, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and other utilities is desirable
• Self-motivated with an optimistic attitude
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to lift and carry field equipment and samples for testing (50 lb lift test required)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a physical and drug screening
