Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a Bridge Inspector to oversee field inspections on transportation projects across Louisiana. You will monitor construction activities, verify QA/QC, and ensure compliance with plans and LADOTD standards.

The role requires reading plans, documenting findings, generating daily reports, and maintaining project files. Applicants should have LA DOTD certifications, highway inspection experience, and strong communication skills; OSHA 10 is

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Fleet drivers must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.

Bridge Inspector

Position Summary

Education and Experience Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED isrequired.
  • Associate degree in an engineering field preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in LA DOTD QC/Inspection work desired.
  • Valid LA DOTD Structural Concrete Certification or can get within three months.
  • Nuclear gauge certification is required.
  • Experience inspecting roadway paving (asphalt and concrete), roadway soil testing, earth work, and grading inspection preferred.
  • Experience in bridge work inspection (pile driving, drilled shaft etc.), beams. and bridge deck construction is preferred.

Safety Requirement

For positions involving field work, completion of OSHA 10 certification is required as a condition of employment. New hires without current certification must complete the training within two (2) weeks of hire. ICE will provide the training and cover associated costs.

Physical Demands The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic.

Expected Hours of Work The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule.
