WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Under the indirect supervision of the Construction Inspection Chief of Parties, act as the engineer’s representative on work sites including, observing, and reporting contractors’ progress and quality of work. Work sites may include pipelines, roadways, elevated storage tanks, water wells, or other civil infrastructure. The Construction Inspector also acts as a liaison between the contractor, the client owner, and engineer. Inspector also acts as a liaison between the contractor, the client owner, and engineer.

Once selected to join our team, you will:

  • Conduct daily inspection preparation, including loading the vehicle with all necessary supplies and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Perform daily site visits to monitor materials, installed equipment, monitor schedules and procedures, and identify any defects or deficiencies in quality or compliance with industry standards and contract documents.
  • Attend contractor meetings, including progress meetings, pre-construction conferences, and scheduling meetings as directed by the engineer and client owner.
  • Investigate project sites in support of engineers and complete non-surveyed site staking.
  • Review shop drawings, requests for information and responses, change orders, schedules, and other contract documents.
  • Complete daily standardized reports of inspection, which may include photographs, video, measurements, and written observations of contractor performance such as hours on location, daily activities, weather, or other data.
  • Monitor project completion and assist in preparing punch lists.
  • Drive company vehicle to and from job sites and company premises or home.
  • Perform any other duties to assist the Inspection Chief.
  • Manage daily work assignments and tasks in accordance with industry and company standards, including equipment preparation and usage with minimal supervision.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficiency in mid-level math skills.
  • Understanding of civil engineering concepts and construction practices ().

SKILLS:

  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal daily supervision.
  • Competence in using equipment and technology necessary for inspection tasks.

EXPERIENCE:

  • More than one year of experience in construction or a related industry is .
  • Experience installing or inspecting water utility infrastructure is a plus.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Additional certifications or training related to construction inspection are advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Full-time position of minimum of 40 hours per week on a set schedule as determined by the company; may be required to work overtime
  • Outside field work required
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures and weather
  • Exposure to grassy/rocky or steep terrain
  • Possible exposure to potentially harmful plants and wildlife
  • Occasional travel requiring long-distance commutes, overnight stays, or temporary relocation near a job site (less than 10%)
  • Initial training period may include increased travel requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lifting equipment up to 30 lbs.
  • Walking and climbing on rocky or steep terrain
  • Kneeling, stooping, and bending
  • General walking, standing, squatting, twisting, and reaching
  • Ability to safely climb and work at heights above 100’
