Job Type: Onsite

Stanley Consultants is seeking to hire a Construction Inspector to work in Harvard, IL. This position will perform on-site daily observation of the contractor’s construction work and compare the work product to the project’s approved plans and specifications.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Perform on-site daily observation of the contractor's construction work and compare it to the project's approved plans and specifications.
• Prepare reports documenting the progress of the contractor’s work and the payment thereof.
• Physically perform field-required tests.
• Ensure the quality of the contractor’s work.
• Maintain daily logs of inspections and review any discrepancies with the proper parties.
• Communicate all issues with the proper project team members expeditiously.
• Operate a company vehicle as required, maintaining an acceptable driving record.

Required Qualifications:

• Associates degree in construction management with a minimum of 5 years of construction-related experience, or no degree with at least 8 years of relevant construction experience.
• Construction experience within Illinois and familiarity with Illinois DOT policies and procedures.
• Experience with IDOT policies and procedures for highway construction is required.
• Experience with Illinois Tollway and City of Chicago construction work is preferred.
• Must possess IDOT construction documentation certification.
• Additional certifications (PCC Level I-III, HMA Level I-III, S-33, etc.) are preferred.
• Good communication and documentation skills (MS Word, Internet) and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of construction techniques and ability to read plans and specifications.

Physical Demands:

Includes manual labor, lifting up to 50 lbs., working at various weather conditions, climbing ladders, scaffolding, and trenches. Fear of heights or confined spaces may be a hardship.
