Job summary

Wi Development Corp is a growing design-build construction company on Long Island, seeking a dependable Construction Helper/Material Runner to support field crews on high-end residential projects in Bay Shore. This role blends material pickups and deliveries with general jobsite assistance and entry-level construction tasks.

The ideal candidate communicates effectively in English and Spanish, drives safely, and is willing to learn carpentry and related skills.

Qualifications

  • Some residential construction, remodeling, maintenance, or general labor experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish is required because this position regularly coordinates material deliveries and jobsite tasks with English and Spanish-speaking field personnel.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable under the company’s insurance requirements.
  • Dependable transportation and ability to travel between project locations.
  • Must be comfortable operating a company vehicle and transporting construction materials between suppliers and project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver materials, tools, supplies, and equipment to project sites.
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload construction materials.
  • Verify pickup orders and promptly report missing or damaged materials.
  • Assist carpenters, site supervisors, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
  • Complete basic carpentry, painting, spackling, caulking, and repair tasks within demonstrated abilities.
  • Help with site setup, temporary protection, cleanup, and project closeout.
  • Organize tools, materials, storage areas, and company vehicles.
  • Protect floors, walls, fixtures, and finished surfaces during construction.
  • Remove debris and maintain clean, safe, professional job sites.
  • Help receive deliveries and distribute materials to the correct work areas.
  • Use a smartphone and company software for timekeeping, photos, messages, and task updates.
  • Communicate material needs, delivery issues, and jobsite concerns promptly.
  • Follow company safety practices and project instructions.
  • Travel between the office, suppliers, and project sites throughout the local area.
  • Assist experienced carpenters with siding installation and repairs, including measuring, cutting, carrying, and positioning cedar siding materials.

We complete distinctive renovations, additions, and custom projects that require excellent organization and reliable field support. Every team member contributes to the finished result, whether performing skilled work, protecting a completed space, or ensuring crews have the right materials at the right time.

We are seeking a dependable, hands‑on Construction Helper/Material Runner to support our field crew and active residential projects. This position combines material pickups and deliveries with general jobsite assistance and entry‑level construction work.

You will help keep projects organized, supplied, clean, and moving forward. The ideal candidate has some residential construction experience, communicates effectively in Spanish and English, drives safely, and is willing to assist wherever needed. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to develop broader construction skills while working alongside experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Professional and respectful when working in occupied or completed homes.
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work safely in active residential construction environments, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation
  • Pay: $20 - $25 per hour based on experience
  • 10 paid days of PTO.
  • 6 paid federal holidays.
  • Hands-on training and exposure to multiple residential construction skills.
  • Opportunity to grow into a more skilled carpenter or punch‑list position.
  • Steady involvement in active and upcoming projects.
  • Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday. Start times may vary based on project and material‑delivery requirements.
