Job summary

MWH Constructors, based in Gresham, Oregon, seeks a Health & Safety Specialist to oversee project safety protocols and procedures at construction sites. This role focuses on maintaining a healthy and safe work environment while promoting safety culture across teams.

The candidate will bring OSHA knowledge, experience implementing safety management systems, and a track record of training employees and partnering with leadership to minimize risk on projects.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or two-year degree in occupational safety, environmental safety and health, health management, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years construction experience and 3 years of safety experience on a construction site.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures as needed.
• Knowledge of OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and promotes a healthy and safe work environment.
• Oversees the implementation and maintenance of environmental health and safety management systems.
• Emphasizes accountability around safety policies and decisions.
• Aids in the development and implementation of project, regional, and corporate safety strategy companywide.
• Works closely with project leadership to create a safe working environment.
• Instructs and trains employees in safety-related issues and techniques.
