J&L Builders seeks a skilled Construction Superintendent to lead healthcare and life science construction projects on-site, ensuring plan conformance, schedule adherence, and safety compliance across multiple projects in the Sacramento region.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years as lead superintendent, TI and ground-up experience, and proficiency with MS Project/Primavera. Travel within the Sacramento Valley is required; a strong focus on safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as the lead Superintendent managing projects.
• TI and ground-up experience.
• HCAI / OSHPD 1 & 2 projects experience.
• Experience in Life Science projects and operating rooms.
• Must interview with potential clients for new projects.
• Must develop project schedules; Microsoft Project mandatory, Primavera a plus.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in standard software and tools used in construction.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and manage construction projects onsite from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to specifications, safety, quality, and timelines.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers for seamless execution.
• Review plans and coordinate scope, budgets, schedules, and resources.
• Monitor progress and safety, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Supervise on-site activities, ensuring safety regulations and standards.
• Provide regular project updates to the Project Manager and stakeholders.
• Lead project meetings and facilitate effective cross-team communication.
• Evaluate performance against metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain all permits, as-builts, and regulatory documentation in the field.
• Mentor onsite team members and subcontractors with guidance and feedback.
• Create/update project schedules from handed plans; manage RFIs and submittals.
• Travel as required within the Sacramento Valley Region; weekend/shift work may be needed.

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Construction Superintendent to join our team and play a crucial role in delivering exceptional construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects on site within scope, timeline, and budget while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. As a Construction Superintendent at J&L Builders, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage resources, and maintain clear communication with subcontractors, clients and stakeholders on multiple projects. You must have an extensive background in healthcare and/or life science.

Job duties:

• Plan, schedule, and manage construction projects onsite from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety, quality, and timelines.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
• Review project plans and coordinate the scope of work, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Monitor project progress and safety and identify potential risks or issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure timely project execution.
• Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Provide regular project updates to the J&L Project Manager, addressing any concerns or changes in project scope.
• Participate in and run project meetings and facilitate effective communication among team members and subcontractors.
• Evaluate project performance onsite against key metrics and objectives, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all project documentation, permits, as-builts and regulatory requirements are properly maintained in the field.
• Mentor and supervise onsite project team members and subcontractors, providing guidance, and feedback.
• Ability to create, update and execute a project schedule when handed a set of plans.
• Identify, facilitate, and understand RFI’s, submittals and schedules for proper execution.
• Work schedule: Full-time salary, may require weekend and shift work depending upon project requirements.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as the lead Superintendent managing projects.
• Have TI and ground-up experience.
• Have full understanding and experience in HCAI / OSHPD 1 & 2 projects.
• Have experience in building operating rooms.
• Operating Rooms in ASC spaces.
• Have experience in Life Science projects.
• Must be able to interview with potential clients for new projects.
• Must be able to develop project schedules. Microsoft Project mandatory, Primavera a plus.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in standard software and tools used in construction.
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
• Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
• Travel requirements: must have a valid driver’s license and must be insurable by the Company’s insurance carrier. Travel based on jobsite locations within the surrounding Sacramento Valley Region.
• Background check and drug testing required for position.
