Job summary

HELIX Environmental Planning, Inc. is seeking a Construction Project Manager to lead habitat restoration and environmental construction projects across Orange County and the Inland Empire.

You will partner with clients, scientists, restoration crews, and leadership to deliver results while driving project success and growth. The role follows a hybrid schedule with about three days in the office, offering flexibility and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or supporting habitat restoration or environmental construction projects.
  • Experience with project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and field operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with native plant identification and restoration practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tracking platforms.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Plan field operations, review budgets and schedules, and coordinate with biologists and environmental specialists.
  • Meet with clients and support crews, visiting active restoration sites.
  • Evaluate progress and identify opportunities for future work.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence across projects.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and reporting as needed.

As a Construction Project Manager with HELIX Environmental Planning’s Construction Group, you’ll manage impactful habitat restoration and environmental construction projects across Orange County and the Inland Empire while partnering with clients, multidisciplinary teams, restoration crews, and company leadership to deliver exceptional results. The Construction Project Manager plays a critical role in driving project success, business growth, and environmental stewardship.

Day in the Life

As a Construction Project Manager, your day may begin with planning field operations, reviewing budgets and schedules, coordinating with biologists and environmental specialists, and meeting with clients. You’ll visit active restoration sites, support crews and subcontractors, evaluate project progress, and identify opportunities for future work. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities for the Construction Project Manager to make a lasting environmental impact.

Salary will be based on qualifications and/or experience, with a robust benefits package. Expected starting pay range of $68,000 to $92,000.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Environmental Planning, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or supporting projects in habitat restoration, environmental construction, natural resource management, landscaping, public works, or related projects.
  • Experience with project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and field operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with native plant identification, habitat restoration practices, invasive species management, stormwater BMPs, erosion control, irrigation systems, and native vegetation management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project tracking platforms.
  • Ability to perform project site visits and field oversight in varying terrain and weather conditions.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading field crews, coordinating subcontractors, and directing project activities.
  • Experience serving as primary client contact, managing project budgets and financial performance
  • Experience in preparing proposals, cost estimates and scopes of work.
  • Familiarity with public agency contracting, prevailing wage projects, task order contracts, or on-call environmental services contracts.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CERP, QAL/QAC, ISA Arborist, CPSWQ, or related credentials.
