Job summary

Wilkerson Crane Rental is seeking a Forklift Operator to support crane operators by performing routine maintenance, inspections, and lubrication tasks. You will help ensure safe, efficient crane operation and minimal downtime due to mechanical issues on a construction site.

This role requires joinability with IUOE Local 178 and adherence to site safety rules. You will transport materials, inspect equipment, and coordinate with supervisors and crew to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain prior to assignment).
• Minimum 1 year of experience operating forklifts or telehandlers in a construction environment preferred.
• Ability to read and follow site plans, signals, and supervisor instructions.
• Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions including varying weather.
• Union membership in good standing is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and telehandlers to transport construction materials, tools, and equipment around the job site.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and storage areas.
• Inspect forklift equipment before and after use to ensure proper working condition.
• Communicate with signalers, riggers, and supervisors to coordinate safe material movement.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor immediately.
• Maintain clean and organized material staging areas.
• Assist in securing loads and ensuring materials are properly stacked or stored.
• Follow all site safety rules, traffic patterns, and PPE requirements.
• Support general labor tasks when equipment operation is not required.
