Job summary

Knife River Mountain Region in Montana seeks a Foreman to lead daily crew activities on civil construction sites. You will read plans and grade specifications, coordinate with project managers and subcontractors, and ensure safe, efficient completion of tasks.

You will operate or supervise operation of heavy equipment, monitor production reports via HCSS Heavy Job, and uphold safety standards. This role requires flexibility for day, night, and weekend shifts, with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of construction experience across residential, commercial, and heavy highway projects.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
  • Physical ability to bend, lift, stoop, push/pull, and stand for long periods.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Able to work flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily crew activities to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Interpret plans, grades and specs of civil sites.
  • Operate heavy equipment: loader, blade, excavator, dozer, skid steer, rollers.
  • Maintain safety and prevent unsafe actions.
  • Coordinate daily with team, subs, trucking and suppliers.
  • Use HCSS HeavyJob to track quantities, production reports and timecards.
  • Communicate with project managers, estimators and engineers as needed.

Job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following;

  • Coordinate all daily crew activities to maximize productivity and quality
  • Ability to understand plans, grade and specifications of a civil construction site
  • Experience in operation of loader, blade, excavator, dozer, skid steer and rollers
  • Perform work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions or behaviors
  • Daily coordination with team members, sub-contractors, trucking and suppliers
  • Utilization of HCSS Heavy Job to track daily quantities, use of production reports and daily timecards
  • Ability to communicate with project managers/estimators and engineers as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in construction with emphasis on residential, commercial and heavy highway civil construction
  • Valid driver's license but a CDL is preferred
